Mavis Snelson is a transformative education leader with over a decade of experience driving systemic change at the classroom, school, district, and state level. She specializes in aligning systems to move the needle on student achievement.
In her role as a Vice President at MGT Impact Solutions, Mavis led strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives for high-stakes turnaround projects. Most notably, she served as Deputy Superintendent for the Gary Community School Corporation during its critical transition, successfully leading the district out of a seven-year "Distressed Unit" status. Following this milestone, she served as Chief Academic Officer to support the district’s transition to local control.
In addition to district and school turnaround, Mavis has experience leading large-scale system audits to drive data-driven improvement efforts. She has also collaborated closely with policymakers to design and advocate for school improvement legislation, driving positive change in educational policy. Through her innovative approaches and dedication to educational excellence, Mavis is instrumental in driving meaningful improvements in student outcomes nationwide.
